What is a ductless mini-split?
A heating and cooling system with an outdoor unit connected to one or more indoor units by small refrigerant lines — no ductwork. Each indoor unit conditions its own room or zone with its own temperature setting.
Where do mini-splits make the most sense?
Additions, converted garages, bonus rooms, shops, and older homes that never had ducts — anywhere extending ductwork is impractical. They're also a strong whole-home option: multi-zone systems can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit, with room-by-room control.
Do they heat as well as cool?
Modern cold-climate mini-splits are heat pumps, so one system handles both jobs. Performance depends on choosing a model rated for winters like ours and sizing it to the space — which is exactly what our mini-split design and installation process covers.
